I didn't know that could happen. Now that you mention it, the noise was similar to that made years ago when I replaced the tensioners in my Twin Cam. It rattled like it was coming apart while the lifters were getting pumped up.

Yeah, the hydraulic lifters have a bleeder in them, that if stuck open could prevent the cavity from filling up inside.Hence causing both valve's( since each pair of intakes or exhaust valves are operated by one lifter) to hardly open. It would make a sh*tload of racket from the right side of the bike.

I'm surprised that it could happen to a bike running a running at 2000 rpm, and then refill itself. Hopefully the tech's at the dealer can figure it out, if it's something that is going to be figured out in the short term. If not, I'll have it on record.

The other possibility is a plug wire too like the other guy had ( one who had it pull off the plug and another that had it broken and arcing to ground) .That's more of a "snapping" noise but would certainly explain the power loss for sure.

The dealer couldn't duplicate the problem, and with no codes it's still a mystery. Good news, I don't have an excessive blow-by problem, I have a cracked breather hose. Bad news is that they have to order it, so I have another 178 mile round trip next week.
