I use this one
Amazon Amazon

It will not decrease battery life. Most new bikes come with the pigtail attached, so all you need is the power source. I mounted it on a small shelf near the garage door opener and let the cable hang down at the bike. It keeps it off the floor and out of the way.

You will also want to top off your fuel tank and add a fuel stabilizer (Stabil or Seafoam).

This is the one I have. Its a 3A charger/tender. Most of the links I see in this thread are 750mA, the 3A one will bring it up to capacity faster.

Been using this one for years whenever my bike is in the garage, I generally change batteries every 3 years whether I need to or not. My batteries have always been fine for that time period.

I've had a few tenders over the years and they all do the same thing. It's ok to
hook up for winter storage...I've never had an issue with doing that with a battery tender. No need to spend big bucks on one though. My latest one is just a wall wart and a couple of battery clamps...Harley brand...works great. I got it 2nd hand cheap
and it works great.

Or get this one, its 1.25A, will recover faster than a 750mA one, and is rated for motorcycles.

But again, I've been using the 3A one for a long time. Bike sat over the winter last winter and started like a champ this spring.

I use the Deltran Battery Tender Jr. for most applications, though I have a dual unit for the Harley and the Hyper Naked. They are on a tractor, generator, power washer, etc. You can buy a Battery Tender Jr. which is what the rebranded OP posted HD is for $25 online. I plug my bikes in after every single ride. They (and my other equipment) are NEVER off the tender unless I'm out cruising. The batteries in my toys last for years!

Non-AGM tenders work on AGM batteries, but they shorten the overall lifespan of the battery. For $125 a pop for a H-D battery, it's worth using the right battery tender.

The one Keith quoted states, "It is an ideal charger for everyday charging use or long-term storage and maintenance. Ideal for AGM, Flooded, and Gel batteries."

I wonder if the 50 something Amp charging system on our bikes know if the battery is AGM? Just wondering.

Yes. Look at the voltage gauge (on '17 & '18 models) - you'll see that it doesn't go over about 14.8 volts - the top end of what AGM batteries charge at. AGM's are sensitive to over voltages. A really good AGM charger will be computer controlled, and have built-in temperature compensation, and the best will have an automatic desulfator.

The old, cheap "trickle" or "float" chargers would float up to 15 or 16 volts - not good for an AGM battery. Lead acids would forgive over voltage charging, AGM's not.

I use BatteryMinder 2012-AGM's for my bikes.
