I keep my battery tender on everyday. a few people have told me that they have gotten up to 8 or 9 years on a stock battery by using a tender all the time. I figure why not try the experiment. if it fails, oh well I need to buy a battery. if it works, gives me more years of battery life.
But again, I've been using the 3A one for a long time. Bike sat over the winter last winter and started like a champ this spring.
The 1.25A Battery Tender is the one I use. Looks to be the exact clone of the Harley 1.25A maintainer. Well except for the color and of course it's costs less.
Even comes with the same exact clamps https://www.harley-davidson.com/stor...ry-tender---us
Yes. Look at the voltage gauge (on '17 & '18 models) - you'll see that it doesn't go over about 14.8 volts - the top end of what AGM batteries charge at. AGM's are sensitive to over voltages. A really good AGM charger will be computer controlled, and have built-in temperature compensation, and the best will have an automatic desulfator.
Interesting info but the new charging system in the 17s and 18s was an upgrade for current capability at low RPM.
Not sure you can gather anything "new" was specified for voltage (by looking at the gauge) as Harley has been using the same battery for awhile now - since 1997.

I'm pretty sure Harley's model is just a re-badged 'Battery Tender' brand.
