Optimate 4. It works, it won't over-charge the battery, it will desulphate and restore an excessively discharged battery, and it won't run a current at all if you get the polarity wrong on your connection, which is useful if an idiot installed the pigtail or if you use clips straight on the battery post.
Deltron tenders are what I use if it's not running it's hooked up to a tender , my last bike was 7yrs. Old and still on the original battery with no issues
Better keep an eye on the charging voltage of that one. I had the exact one a couple years ago and it would raise the charging voltage to 17 volts. Not good for any type of 12 volt battery. I threw the thing in the trash.
But hopefully it was just faulty.
I've just started working on this spreadsheet, but it should list quite a few of the more popular battery chargers/maintainers on the market. As I get the time I'll add more. Let me know if there's any mistakes - the little buggers do tend to creep in...

Doesn't the Battery Tender website discuss temperature compensation? I thousght they compensated.
Battery tender makes them for H-D. Harley - Davidson has a 12 month warranty compared to battery tenders 5 years
Nope. They have a five year manufacturers warranty, look in the P&A catalog. This is for the 750 ma model. The weather resistant models have 2 & 3 year warranties. I know because my last one started to overheat just after 4 years. I returned it to the dealer and was given a brand new one. But I do agree it's better to save the money and get the manufacturers one. WalMart has them sometimes a little cheaper.
