I've been on the fence about getting one and the data presented here has convinced me to do it. My '22 RK get blazing hot while commuting home during summer evenings. I would want this fan-assisted oil cooler for precisely that, to keep the engine cooler in those conditions. I live in fear (exaggerating) of getting caught in some monumental traffic jam and a -40F reduction in temperature at slow speeds would be awesome. I do wish he had provided some controlled data running at, say, 15 mph.

A fan assisted oil cooler isnt going to do any difference than a non- fan oil cooler.
If your stuck in traffic your temps are going to continue to rise regardless.
Now if you find one with a big enough fan to lift the bike off the ground.
You might have something then.

do you have one, on your M8 and have facts that dispute the manufacturers claims? or do you not have any personal experience with either of those and just throwing out your opinions?
DESCRIPTION Keep your cool. This easy to install Oil Cooler features a thermostatically controlled fan that provides continuous flow of cooling air even while the bike is idling in traffic or moving at low speed.
Ideal for bikes that see parade duty and other low speed or continuous idle situations
Perfect addition to a bike modified with high performance components
Fan automatically engages when the engine oil temperature rises
When in operation, the Fan Assisted Oil Cooler can provide up to a 50 degree drop in oil temperature

You go ahead a believe what you wish.
Yes I have done numerous testing on my bikes
With oil coolers with and without fans.
Everytime a oil thread of any kind pops up.
You seem to be the expert.
From my experience fans dont do ****.

Well DKCustoms said they're developing a fan assist system for the M8 Softail and in their testing they said the fan helped below 25mph.
If Steve's testing showed an improvement, and DK's prototype testing is show improvement in the areas where extra cooling is needed the most, low speed and lane splitting and traffic... Then it's no longer about beliefs, it's about recognizing what the data and reporting is showing.
Fan Assisting passive oil cooler seems to be a great idea to keep engine temps down in low speed situations. It shows results.
Low speed situations are where the engine encounters the highest risk for excessive in a standard usage.
This is some out of the box oil coolers I have ran.
I have a few more but know pictures.
All these coolers are much larger than anything Harley, jagg, or Dk sells. If you believe those little wimpy oil coolers with fans are gonna help.
Go ahead a gettcha some.
Therm-Tex with three big sky fans behind it. Fans didn’t do crap to bring down temps. Feral hyper cool 19 row cooler with two large fans. Again fans didn’t do anything. The latest that works the best is two 20” Derale heat sinks without fans. Hold over qt 1/2 more oil. Still heats up at stop and go traffic. But recovers much sooner than the others.
That's a nice and dandy, but I'm not sticking a NASA Science project on the side of my ****in bike so...
I'll go with a fan that can be effectively hidden between the cylinder and radiator.

there you have it folks...straight from the subject matter expert himself with expertise and qualifications that we should trust over the manufacturers..who of course they don't test their products to validate effectiveness

yup, unnecessary hideous and grotesque apparatus installations... we see those all the time on lots of bikes...said no-one ever !! never mind the fact that even without any kind of add ons these aren't blowing up left and right all over the place

This comes from a guy that tells you to run your bike 1/2qt low in another thread.
Did the manufacturers suggest that?
They must of mentioned it since thats what you seem to go by all the time.
