I get it - we love our bikes. So do I. I don't get what else there is to monkey with for a bunch mo' money, is all.

P.S. - I order the oil temp dipstick gauge, thanks again.
Not much. You've got your tune. Unless you change something, you're pretty much good to go. Sure, once your are done tuning, you can use the PV to display gauges. But, I don't find this proposition too motivating - particularly on my Heritage. Everything I really need to see is already displayed on the bike's speedo. The speedo on my '09 Nightster is more rudimentary, so I could display ET, RPM, MPG, Fuel consumption etc. But these days, I just don't find that capability motivating enough the mount the PV. I've got a Target Tune, so I can use the PV to monitor Set AFR, Measured AFR, CLI etc. But, by in large, I don't find that really necessary either. All I really need on the Nightster is the speedo, low fuel light, and trip meter and I'm good.

Just to be clear, buying a PV2 includes a license. Your investment would have been $400 more, had you purchased a PV2 at time of cam install, since since your mechanic charged you $200 for a license to tune your bike with his PV2.

My two M8's are the coolest running of the 8 harleys I have had. Much cooler than previous 103 and 110 twin cams. They were cool running even stock, but now I have thundermaxes with full exhaust. Just my experience.

Cooler, or cool? Oil life is cut in half for every 18 degrees F above 140 degrees F. The goal is to cool an air-cooled engine to the extent possible without the expense of a full-up liquid cooling system. Which is why I added cooling fans. Even though I'm not going to put on 100,000 miles, I want performance retained as long as possible without sticky rings, worn cylinder walls and bearings.

It's not just for saving oil and oil changes, it's for engine longevity. For those who say there's no difference, did you ever check your output power level running hot all the time? There is a difference. Worked in all sorts of engine types for 40 years.

We’ll after -20 years and close to a quarter million miles of owning Harleys and never ever checking or knowing what oil temps, engine temps or mpg I have had on any of em’, it’s about high time I get with the program and get some tools that will allow me to pay attention to all of this, before experiencing some sort of problems!!!

Nobody's invalidating experiences. My point is you might be able to improve your experiences.

Isn't that what Forums are for? Not taking offense at new or differing ideas rather than getting cranked about anything different?

After 30 years of Harleys, these are very cool running motors with uncomfortable heat "felt" Not an issue...Absolutely Nothing to improve! Don't need no stinkin fans...maybe you are just a little bit sensitive...you know, to heat ...maybe you should just try riding more and enjoying it!

sorry if I offended thee, I just have always found it amusing how much fussing and fretting and how fickle Harley owners can be is all .. and yes, forum topics are for differing opinions from all .. like Point Counterpoint
