Depends where you are. Here in Suburban NYC, I see an equal number of baggers and Softails (and Dynas) on the roads. I expect it’s similar in other metro, or near metropolitan areas. In more rural areas with longer distances between destinations touring bikes are the more popular.

I bet I see 20 touring bikes to 1 softtail.

I live near a large metropolitan area (Detroit) and I agree with the 20 baggers to 1 softail as thereal posted.

I suspect that touring bikes, for the most part, are used differently than the softails.........

By that I mean there are probably a lot more "week-end bar hopper" softails than touring bikes and a lot more long range trip touring bikes than softails...

The way they are used & miles driven could also affect the sumping issues...

Probably more touring than softails sold, but there are enough softails sold that if it was an issue there would be more than one report. There are some service writers and techs on another forum that have chimed in and said they have seen sumping touring models but not one softail.
