Default Youngest Softail Rider Ever??

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to Harleys and to this forum. I just bought a Fat Boy and I've noticed that I think I'm the youngest softail rider by a good 20 years. Is this true? I don't understand it. Do these pieces of art not appeal to guys in my generation or is it a price issue? Everybody I know that has a bike has an annoying sportbike. I'm 26 by the way... Can somebody enlighten me because aparently I dont get it. Or maybe I'm the only one in my generation that does get it?? I'd like to think its door #2!

On a side note I absolutly love this forum. Hope to learn a lot more about my bike and the culture that surrounds it!

-Eric

Welcome bro, I'm 32 and ride a Night Train and my other buddy is 32 and has been riding for some years. I have a bunch of friends that ride sport bikes too, but it's cool when we get all together. It doesn't matter or come to mind what type of bike we're riding at that point, but the fact that we're out enjoying ourselves riding together in a group. We Harley guys like to joke on the crouch rocket owners though when they start complaining about their back or butt after 45 mins of riding and we have to stop for so many breaks!

Oh yeah just to add, it's funny as hell when I roll past them and look at them as I stretch my legs fully out and rest my heels on the pegs. They sure wish they had a cruiser at that point!

Take care and ride safe!

Dale

bought my standard in Oct of 2007 when I was 21, turned 22 in November. WHOOOOO!!!! I win!!!

I noticed that when I started with my softail too. I think its just a different mind set. A buddy of mine came from a crotch rocket and got himself a street bob when he was 21 too. They will get it one of these days.

I was 23 when we picked up the 1991 FLSTC.
You made a good choice. Keep her shiney, and keep the rubber side down!!

Don't worry about the rest of the kids... they'll come around to the right way of thinking.

I bought my first Harley "45" when I was 16. I thought it "was" a sport bike. LOL. Back in 1955 things were a bit different than now. I took off the saddle bags, removed the pin in the back fender to remove the rear portion, and shazaam! I had a hard tail bobber with a springer front end, side shift on the tank, and a foot clutch. Was I cool or what.

well its good to know I'm not officially the youngest! You know thats exactly why I bought my Fat Boy! Arnold was the most bad@ss looking ***** ever on that fat boy in T2. Saw that movie when I was 8 and have wanted one ever since. I looove the xbones, but the Fat Boy has been an obsession for 20 years now. I think you're right though. It is definitely a different mindset. I know a few guys my age with harleys. One rides a Street Bob, and the other an Iron 883 (which is like half a harley). Other than that everybody has some retarded whiney sport bike with like neon lights and stuff on it. They make me laugh. My best friend just got a gsxr 750 and brought it over all excited like "what do you think!?" I told him I guess I just don't get it. I for one am glad I dont have to look like im packing a samurai sword when I ride. Man those things are annoying.

I'm 26 too.

There's a few of us in that age range on here, but we are surely out-numbered.

I was dead set on a Night Train, nothing else.

I was 23 when I bought my first Harley (a Sporty) and I have had 3 different Harleys since.
I am a few years older now and surely a lot wiser. These Softails are a perfect canvas ready to be painted as you see fit. I really enjoy watching younger and older guys doing things to their bikes that are cross-generational. I guess cool is cool no matter what age you are.

Enjoy the heck out of that Fatboy. Enjoy MacDill as well (I assume you are stationed there).
