Well anyway, the M8s have studs and flange nuts, not bolts. The flange nuts have been known to break. Replace or not is up to you. I replace them.

How about we debate oil for a while...

A full set of the ARP's are $270. A full set of the stock flange nuts are $40. So we have FuelMoto reusing them, Steve Cole advising using only new ones, and I have read other reports of the stock ones having failed even when new.

I'm leaning toward just buying new stockers since I don't plan on tearing the motor apart more than once or twice. (Of course anything can happen) I'm just not sure I can justify spending 6x(+) the money for some custom flange nuts that Fueling has a pretty high price on, although it may be justified because the demand is probably pretty low. You can't buy them from ARP directly or through any other outlet. They are a Fueling proprietary product and ARP makes the flange nuts only for Fueling. As I have stated before, I have a problem with putting money in Fueling's pocket, although sometimes it can't be helped.

I sent a rod bolt to ARP to duplicate to avoid the $75 per bolt charge times 24 on a particular engine I was building and it was a proprietary part too. I can't see why ARP wouldn't do the same for anyone else but its not a ton of money we're talking here for head bolts considering the value of the bike and the engine build.

Just thought I would share that I experienced one broken cylinder stud, then one broken head bolt and I now have yet another rear head leak. I will be upgrading to the Fueling ARP stud/bolt kit to see if that will rectify the issue.

UPDATE: After three broken head bolts, one broken cylinder stud and one loose cylinder stud, we tore the bike down once again (for the third time) and installed ARP studs and bolts tightened to ARP specs. Only put 100 miles on the bike so far, but that is twice as far as it made it on the stock bolts to date. I hope the weather holds out long enough up here for me to get some more miles on the bike to report back that the ARP kit has indeed fixed my particular issue.
