Question one oil or three

Which is best for the m8 ? One syn oil for all three holes or dedicated lubes for all three holes. Is transfer caused by running syn oil in everything or does it matter at all.

Different Strokes for different folks. You'll get different opinions on this all day long. The same oil in all three holes is fine. I've run mobile one 20/50 in all three holes for years. But if you choose to run special transmission fluid in your tranny that's fine too.

The main issue is that the lube in the transmission could transfer into the primary on the touring M8s. . Most Transmission lubes aren't wet clutch compatible and so clutch problems could arise if that type of lube migrates into the primary. So, be sure the Transmission lube that you use is wet clutch compatible. All common 20W50 oils are made without friction modifiers and I prefer to use AMSOIL 20W50 in all 3 holes and have since break-in. I'm glad I did because I've experienced a little bit of transfer, with no issues. Dutchy

Never had a transfer issue in my M8 or any of my bikes for that matter. So for me that's not a concern. Many, many people run transmission lube or a heavy gear oil in their transmission. Right now I am running Redline transmission lubricant and have no concerns. But if you're concerned about it definitely don't do it.

I ran Syn3 in the engine, and Foruma+ in the trans and primary, on my 2018 RGU. Up until the dealer shop installed the primary vent. I forgot to tell the tech to put Formula+ back into the primary, and he put in Syn3. So when I got home I drained the trans and put Syn3 in there as well. So since then, all three holes have been Syn3.

Several thousand miles later, summer heat... I can't tell any difference in operation between the Formula+ and the Syn3.

Use Syn3 in all three holes without any issues. I have a 2018 Ultra limited and put about 18,000 miles on the bike in less than one year without any transfer issues or excessive oil burning. All good so far.

formula + definitely is. in fact, it's what they recommend. for both transmission and primary. (and of course syn3)
