Got the stage 2 torque cam installed today. Not happy.
5 hours at the stealership for SE stage 2 torque cam, S&S GNX Slip-ons, SE Tuner, and Ventilator Air Cleaner. Yeah, definitely more torque and power. I noticed it as soon as I let out the clutch and took off. But after a few miles of riding and not being so twisty with the throttle. I find low speed drivability is terrible. Going slow below 2k rpm cause it to buck and surge, feels like fuel starvation. I had the same issue on my 2018 Yamaha Star Venture until I put on the Power Commander V and then it ran fantastic. I’m thinking they didn’t even drive it. Going to put the stock air cleaner back on and give it a ride. Cut back some of the intake air and see how that goes. Honestly, the bike ran great stock with the stock mufflers. I should have left well enough alone and enjoyed the bike. I’ll never learn.
Also, not sure how they managed this one but the bike starts in gear with the clutch in and the kickstand down. I could actually drive off with the kickstand down.

Below 2k rpm? That's lugging the engine. I don't own an M8 but like most Harleys they run at 2600 rpm plus, anything below that you lug the engine.
Well Im of the minority that for once left mine TF alone and couldnt be happier with my decision. After 20 months and 30,000 miles this thing is a two wheeled Toyota so far. Just runs great every time I take it out which is as much as I possibly can wasnt about money, I probably spend as much on tires, brakes and maintenance as many that pour money into their engines and dont ride half as much

I hear ya. Even as I was going to the dealer this morning I was thinking about changing my mind. Now since these maps are canned and they have no dyno capability Im sure that this is,going to get ugly.
Why dont you take it back to the dealer before putting your stock air cleaner on? Maybe they can fix it. At least youll have registered a complaint right away.

Good luck.
Thanks, Im planning on that as soon as I get the time. Just wish they would have test ridden it as they said they would before giving it back.

No it’s not. If I was in top gear, yeah. That’s lugging the engine. But I’m talking lower gear at a steady speed and it’s oscillating up and down. Plus I’m getting a momentary spark knock when I roll hard on the throttle in top gear at speed like 70 or so. It’s classic lean running issues.

Nope. After the bike is rolling if you're routinely running round at or under 2K the problem is operator error. Look at the torque curves for various setups, lots of variation but 2250-2500 is where most really start to pull. Response at or below 2K is going to be poor. Couple that with the SE tuner which limits the amount of tweaking that can be done in the first place and you'll get exactly what you described at low RPM.

Yeah, a Harley starts with the kickstand down, in gear, and the clutch squeezed...they all do. Not sure what you are saying here ?
