I'm surprised HD hasn't released a Screaming Chicken oil pan vent for their 131.
Seems like an instant money maker given all they would need to do is drill a hole and put a one way valve in - hell they make the trans cover.... How could they pass that up? Explain like I'm five.
MJ, I understand your criticism, truly. My post was more fun than anything, 702 gives me **** about this from time to time LOL.
My concerns (if you can call them that) are geared toward my 128 inch upgrade, and the OEM vents in the heads. Having dealt with crankcase pressure issues in many different engines, I just want to make sure mine is adequate.
In the grand scheme...this one is not all that expensive
understand, never meant it wasn't a good fit for any and all applications..right tool for the job and some builds may just need a little extra love obviously..I've truly enjoyed the last two years being on the other end of the pendulum by leaving mine TFA for the first time ever..and have never put more miles on a bike than this one or enjoyed one more...add in been 100% trouble free well what's not to like..and..honestly..one is able to go fast on stockers..maybe takes them a second or two longer to reach fast...I bet I have spent as much or more on tires, brakes, maintenance and gas than many owners that did performance upgrades so it's really not a tightwad thing
The only reason I would be interested in the Trask Check M8 is for the the benefit of keeping crankcase vent oil from getting into the cylinders. Well, that, and it looks trick.
However, this thread has illuminated the recommendation to have the oil pump seal in place before installing the Check M8, which I don't have. If I ever do replace my oil pump, maybe I'll get the Trask plate also. Shut up and take my money.
I can definitely attest to oil blowing out of it if you don't have the seal, mine was puking pretty bad when we rode down to Myrtle Bike week. I had an S&S oil pump installed last year and for some reason or another they didn't think it was necessary to install the seal. I ran the hose to the back of the bike past the rear wheel and installed an oil catch can plus lowered the oil level a half quart and it seems good to go. If and when I have a big bore kit installed I'll have them install the seal then.
I'm surprised you didn't get the turbo while you were at it. When all said and done it was almost $6K when I did mine, then I put an additional $8K into it with a bigger turbo, cams and exhaust. 3 rd gear wheelies on the fwy are fun but alas, I didn't;'t like it because they power was unpredictable.

I thought about it for a minute, but I didn't want to lay out the cash. We got home from this trip yesterday, and after putting 4,825 miles on her Sportster in the last 21 days I knew my wife would be hating life. So, as her reward for not bitching once she gets a new bike.
Somewhere near the 2k mile mark and not a sign of any oil at the filter.
I know that I have more than 2K on my Check M8 and there is no even slight hint of oil on that breather filter. I have run the **** out of it too. So far, I happy with the money spent and the results. I have my hose/filter run to the same location as well.
Here's another bit of info that some of you might find interesting - I still have the breather bypass installed in addition to the CheckM8 and I've just returned from a 2k mile trip to Colorado. Before I left I changed my engine oil (I use HD360) and filled it to the full mark on the dipstick (topped off while oil was hot). I checked it hot yesterday when I got home and it's still on the full mark after 2k miles, with no sign of oil at either vent tube.
Is he saying that if you didnt change out the pump (add the seal) on a 2019 and earlier, youre going to have oil coming out of their cover or is it the breathers?
It will come out of their breather. Built in rust proofing!
