I have a 2020 FLTRK. I'm thinking about changing head pipes. I really like the looks of the true dual head pipes. I know that your best performance will come from a crossover pipe. I'm thinking on a stock bike just a stage one that the performance loss from true duals would be minimal and likely not noticeable, am I correct? I'm considering Vance and Hines dresser duals with eliminator 400 mufflers, a big sucker with a FP3 which has a specific flash for this configuration. Anyone out there running this setup or something similar on a M8, how does it run, do you have decel popping?
Actual true duals will most likely hurt. There are several pipes out there that look like true dual but actually have a collector, I would suggest going that route. This is a pic of my bike with a full Khrome Werks 2-2 performance system, looks like duals but it has an H collector that performs great on the dyno.

If you want true duals it is your bike. You will lose Torque on the low end and it will be noticeable and tune will not cure it. TD been wrong answer from the first ones were put on the market. But they still manage to sell them.

I do understand that some bottom end loss is to be expected, I hear lots of people saying that. It would be good to see a dyno sheet from a similar setup, I would like to see just how much is lost on a stock bike compared to some other type of head pipe. I'm not seeking the most powerful setup, just a nice looking good sounding bike that runs well. I may just keep the stock header, gut the cat. I don't know how well the fp3 will work with it as it only provides tunes for v&h headers on rdrs equipped bikes.
why not try a more specific related forum on this site...just don't stop for a break on the Oil Related Forum or you'll be forever lost in that black hole

I doubt that just changing the head pipe will warrant a new tune. I just swapped out my stock one with a FuelMoto Jackpot stainless head pipe last week and didn't need to retune anything.

I wouldn't replace my stock head pipe with one that removes the catalytic converter without a retune. Changes to air/fuel in and out should be re-tuned for best performance and mpg.
I decatted my stock headers last winter and while the bike seems to run fine, once I installed the map from FM, it ran much better and got rid of the gas smell from running to rich.

Have to agree with Smitty, on a M8 going with TD the loss in torque on the bottom will be very noticeable. Had TD on a 107 worked twin cam that sounded great and ran great but the m8 is much more sensitive to exhaust change and in stock mode opening the exhaust like that is a no no. As pgreer says gut the cat and tune it you'll be happier by far
