Agreed, but "nice" as in on the low side of HD's max of .012, and within Feuling's, S&S oil pump/cam plate recommendations. I do have the Star Racing comp ramp to install, so I'll check the left side shaft once I get there. If it's too far out, I have S&S and SE oil pump/cam plate kit options on hand to pair with a Darkhorse flywheel from a couple of other owners whose projects were canceled by their significant others... I don't want to get too crazy with the shark though, if I don't have to, because I may use the Darkhorse flywheel for a "bigger bore" Softail if I don't sell it, but that'll be a different thread.
I was surprised that mine was .004 when new but par for the course anymore. I haven't had any issues. I run a Cycle Rama comp ramp in mine with a stage 2. Good luck with the build.
Finally got around to checking the sprocket side flywheel run out and it's nice to see that it's less than the pinion side.
Moving on to installing the jugs and checking deck height for compression.
The Star Racing comp ramp gets installed if compression is within range.
Why not? You've gotta start somewhere. The original plan was just a cam, exhaust, air cleaner, injectors, get it tuned, add the big bore kit next year and compare. But my tinkeritus decided otherwise, hence the big bore kit etc... I also have the CR512 cam that Wes designed as a bolt in for the SE 131 kits, but the CR485 is a newer design, so I want to see how it works out first before tinkeritus strikes again.
I mocked the engine up to check compression and came up with 11.26:1 for the front and 11.23:1 for the rear. I'm okay with that, so unless I run into a SNAFU, I may get it together and fired by Monday.
I was waiting for Feuling to release their rocker shaft shim kit, https://www.feulingparts.com/sku/1230. But they said even though it's shown as in stock, that the engineering team wasn't ready to release it. So I'm taking notes and moving on with my project. Changes from my original list of parts: S&S rocker shaft set. These are not marked and can be mistaken for stock ones. Maybe S&S could add their logo on the ends? SE oil pump/cam plate. The above are not required but I have them in stock... Back to wrenching!
Well, I made a little progress today but not feeling very well. I think the little lady may have shared C-19 before isolating herself yesterday and now it may be my turn...
