Getting that ****in cover on was an enormous pain in the ***. Even with my stubby Allen wrenches and ball ends, it too like 2 ****ing hours to get at the bolts and install the damn thing. I wish there was an easier way to get at it.

I thought about getting half inch screws, but glad I didn't as Trask cover isn't rounded like OEM cover. You need the longer screw to find the hole to get the threads started.

I also saw why you routed the hose down toward exhaust - I wasn't expecting the hose fitting tightened to face rightward and back. So I did the same and put the filter just above the frame to try to keep road dirt from clogging it.

Trask wrote back today and said there should not be enough oil travelling through the vent to need a catch can.

They have an online install video. The installer stuffed the filter above in front of the battery. I disagree, I want it down low to vent any oil mist downward, not being concerned about driving through water as you would be with a car or truck.

You disagree with what Trask and multiple others have said.

why did you make this thread? You could have just done whatever you wanted in the first place.

next you will add a catch can and a 1 way valve…

What are you talking about? 1st of all, the Trask is a one way Reed valve.

2nd if you'd watched the video yourself, you'd see the guy just stuffed the filter where easiest WITHOUT a location recommendation, on a bike that was different configuration than my softail Heritage.

Go somewhere else if you just want to hate on somebody

Eh well, I think having it go up then down like I routed it is probably just fine. Mine isn't gathering any road grime or clogging where I mounted it. It's just getting a bit rusted because of the rain water.
I think the big problem is just having it not snug and secured to the outlet barb. Gotta make sure it's on there, and secured, so I added a hose clamp.

Yeah, the point is the Trask Tech in the video didn't care about filter orientation. He just looked for the easiest spot to jam it into and stuffed it there, and it wasn't anything like my Heritage.

I didn't want any oil vapor on the battery so stuck it down low where it can't vape onto anything. And - of course, added spring clamps to both hose ends so it won't come off.

Can't understand why some get.so wound up and snipe at people here. I found the answers and turns out members didn't really know, and either shared what they did or their tech did without knowing what was necessary. Turns out nothing's necessary. I appreciate the shared stories regardless, but not the hate for my finding out.

I had a spring clamp kit with various sizes. Found the barb fitting on cover smaller than the filter. Strange.
