I've been reading about Trask CheckM8 Engine Breather. A number of posters had oil mist coming thru the coalescer filter, coating their rear tire and brake disc. Not good.
Any members upgrade the Trask Filter to a better coalescing catch can? What brand? Results?
My understanding is a new oil pump seal, or pump for that matter, isn't needed on 2020+ model year M8 engines because MoCo upgraded the pump. Not sure what the seal is about.

Pretty sure I was reading about 2021 models.
Is this not true?
Trask gave me this paper when he put the cover on my bike in Sturgis in 2021. It explains it better than I can. But I do believe your understanding is correct. Fortunately, I have not had this problem.

Yep - I read that notice on Trask's website.
So I'm still back to my original question. Maybe I didn't read the posts correctly and the oil mist escape only applies to pre-2020 model year engines?
if so, that'd be great, I won't have to do anything. I just bought a Trask for my 2021 M8 107.

I was running an S&S oil pump and cam plate on my 2017 RGS with a FM124 build. The oil pump was an early S&S model that did not have the O ring seal. When I had the Trask installed, I was aware of the potential issue and chose to roll the dice anyway. It became immediately obvious that was a mistake. The bike was not rideable due to excessive oil misting. I upgraded the oil pump to a new S&S oil pump with the seal and the problem was solved. Your 2021 M8 should have the new oil pump with the seal so you should be alright. If you still want a catch can, DK Customs has them available and I ran one off my Breather Bolts until I got tired of dumping the condensation.

Thanks for sharing.
I'm leaving the valve cover breathers alone. I've read they don't oil mist anymore after the Trask breather is added. That seems intuitive.
Yeah, I didn't want to have to keep an eye on dumping a catch can, but would have if it was needed. I think I'm good to go. Will confirm.
I put a Trask Check M8 on my 2022 FXBBS at 220 miles. I put the filter up under the seat in the right side cover. The hose only goes up from the Trask unit to the filter.
Zero oil mist on the filter, or anything its near.
literally pulled my throttle body to do an intake manifold swap and a cam yesterday. Throttle body is clean and oil free.

I am currently at 1,656 miles.
This is what I've been trying to understand. If you do the external breather do you need to do the venting also, or vice versa if you do the venting do you need to do the external breather. Looks like your results answer half that.
