The new Intake is much shorter, which allows the Air Cleaner area to not stick out as far as before for better leg clearance while riding.
Wouldn’t a longer runner length produce better velocity or is this a trade off wout much or any loss?

I always thought the same, but. I have also been told velocity is no longer an issue with fuel injection. Please correct me.

Thank you.

Basically by adding VVT they can move the cam position to provide more Low RPM running ability and then move it as RPM increase to allow for more Mid-range ability. The shorter manifold doesn't show much change. There is little to no runner length in any of the M8 versions to start with, so that helped. Had there been a manifold with longer runners to start with on the M8 it would have made much more of a difference.

I'm still interested in what the aftermarket cams will have to offer over this stock design.
