Just picked up a 22 Lowrider S with the 117. Bike has just under 3k miles on it. I rode it for about 300 miles then noticed this sound. Anyone have any ideas?
There are big intake pulses that cause some noises at idle…especially with no air filterf.
People first started noticing the noise when the bikes went to electrically controlled throttles in 2008, after replacing the stock, enclosed, and muffled air cleaner with a free flowing open air filters.
So..it’s normal. Put the air filter back on and ride.

Thank you guys (IP & FLTRI17)! This makes sense as the bike also has a free flowing unrestricted fab28 2 into 1 exhaust. The sound is only there at idle and disappears as soon as I twist the throttle. If I can’t get used to it I’ll put some cones in it or a lollipop at the end. See if that helps. Thanks again.
Update:
Bike was still under warranty. Dealer, similar to your responses said it’s a combo of the no baffle 2 into 1 exhaust and the new k&n filter. They think the oem filter muffled the sound and the k&n may have different sized pores in the element which allow for more sound to be exposed. They hooked it up to the computer and everything checked out okay.
