They weren't under tension. They were under compression. Chances are that you didn't do any damage unless you dinged the cylinder, scratched the paint or stuck it into one of you body parts..
So issues.... I get everything disassembled. Cam sprocket has a bunch of rough edges. I look on the back and the chain has wore into it... A bit. It doesn't look horrific.
I did happen to measure bearing depth before I took it out. And when I put the new one in it was not in as deep. The fuel Moto tool bottoms on the case with a bit more depth for bearing. I was like OK... I looked at old cam and wear was deeper but not centered figured it was fine.
So I install sprockets and check alignment... Not even close. WAY OFF. The cam sprocket was not out enough. Which makes sense for wear on back of sprocket. I had to go get a shim kit... A 0.110 came out, and I had ro put a 0.130 in, which is pretty perfect.
So I really think it wasn't right from the factory. There should not be that wear, and I didn't need to measure it was clearly misaligned by eye. What do you guys think? Ever see that before?
I finished thing up and got to get on it today. Everything seems good. I honestly think it's quieter. Still a little odd on it. I can look again later. Maybe I will replace things later.
