I had the stock compensator/springs in my 128 for the first year I had the bike. Previous owner had same setup for a year or two prior. I ended up switching to a Vulcan comp eliminator sprocket - had one on previous TC and liked it. I had no issues with eliminator, except a rattle at idle, so I reinstalled stock compensator and added the Evo Ind spring pack. My compensator was in good shape when I reinstalled. I did the heavier springs just to avoid some of the play that might cause wear. Have had this setup for over a year with no issues. Bike makes around 140/160.

@propflux01

I think I paid around $400 for the Cycle Rama Ramp. I didn't buy new springs.

If I end up replacing this ramp, the choice for me is to go with EVO and their stiffer spring pack, or study what needs to be done to retrofit the Baker balancer assembly. For me it's just easier to slam the better ramp and springs in there and be done with the job.

I don't believe we've ever seen an issue or warranty on a M8 Baker unit.
I appreciate that information. I was considering the Baker and surprisingly there isn't much about them on line that I could find. I had decided I would go with an S&S ramp and heavier springs, but haven't bought anything yet. Figured after I tear it down and look at things before I made a final decision on the ramp.

For $150 more than an aftermarket ramp I don't think the Baker is out of line. Especially if you put a spring upgrade on top of the ramp cost.

In your opinion, is the Baker quieter than the stock set up? My stock set up has a rattle sound in it at idle which is the main reason I was going to go into it.

Man, the Baker would be my first choice, now. I have the early CR ramp, and will run it to death, then put in the Baker assy for the money

I run the heavy synthetic gear oil, and I am hoping that is why my ramp still looks decent. Time will tell! I might add the spring.

The Baker Compensator is the quietest comp on the market. In my 132" Road Glide I run the Baker comp and its dead silent.

Good info. Looks like I'll need to place an order.

Thanks Jamie

Central Texas Harley Davidson told me when I stopped by yesterday, that they use the Feuling comp spring on a regular basis with the S&S comp ramp and 1275N clutch springs.

So my 24 CVO ST will also be receiving these parts prior to dyno tuning.

I ended up using the 40100076A comp setup with 2ea .031 shims. Seems to have fixed the clunk at shutdown.

Late to the party. Sorry.
The spring from Fueling works as advertised. I have put in 1 in my bike and 1 in my friends bike. I used to double up,(spoon) the stock small washers for years to fix this. Every one I put in or recommended to my friends is still working for almost 9 years now. But when Fueling came out with this thicker one, I went with it. Having the same result as doubling the small belleville washer.
Hope this helps
