Motorcycle Insurance DiscussionThis is the place to discuss what type of Motorcycle Insurance you carry or any problems or good experiences you've had with certain companies.
I live in South Florida and have a 2011 RKC. I went high on the Bodily Injury and Uninsured Motorist (since we have a problem with licensed & insured drivers in Florida). I pay $902 a year.
in most cases ( and check your own policy) the UIM you carry on your car will cover you from a UIM- whether you are in your car, or your bicycle, crossing the street or the UIM hits your house.
check for specific exclusions, such as:
"This coverage does not cover insured while operating a vehicle other than listed"- or something like that.
My UIM is on my car policy and for $98 covers me on my bikes too.
That can be a major saving
2.) do not pay the $26 ( or whatever) "road assistance" if you already have road assistance through HOG or AAA or another provider.
Each State is different, you gotta read the policies.
CA riders would do well to contact Mike Felder Ins. He is the most honest Guy I know.
I have a package with multiple bikes, a few cars, homeowners and some Antique/Classic- so no way t compare apples to apples.

I get a screaming deal thru' Progressive for 2 Harleys (see my sig line). About $560 a year. Ask them about HOG membership discount. It's about 10% more off.
Depends upon the coverage level you choose, the deductible, any extra accessory coverage, any other extras like roadside coverage, and the company. So what guys pay has little to do with anything unless they break down all of the elements mentioned above.
I guess I'm getting screwed. State Farm on my 2012 Street Glide is $90 a month and that's with a $1k deductible. My 2009 GSXR 1000 sport bike is cheaper $75 month. I have a clean record also. I think they've got it backwards! Time to start shopping!

Give Progressive a call. You will also get multi-vehicle discounts. Hurts nothing to get a quote.
You should shop every year. I paid $630 for my 07 Ultra last year with Progressive and they wanted $680 this year. Shopped arround and Dairyland got me in at 340. Geico couldnt touch it Allstate would not quote after I told them Dairylands price Nationwide was $870. All high end coverage with 250 ded and replacemant cost with $10K add ons. I won't go another year without quoting. I moved all of my insurance this year and saved $1K.
