Wife and I are going out for our first time, part of our 35th wedding anniversary celebration year. She can't make the entire ride from western NC on the bike due to health issues, so we're hauling the bike to visit her family in Nebraska. We'll unload and make the 400 mile ride to Custer where we'll be staying August 3-8 and doing a lot of day rides before returning to NE and loading up for the drive back home. So the plan is 2 days in the cage, a day with family, a day to Custer, 4 days there, a day back to NE, another day with family and 2 days home.
I've done a 9 day trip from NC to Vermont and a 4 day NC to Rolling Thunder trip, but this will be her first extended time on the bike. It was actually her idea, so we started planning in October and are looking forward to it.
We are staying at Shade Valley this year. Stayed at the Chip back in 14, but looking for something a little less busy this time. My best advice is to get up early and get started on your rides, If you were not out of the Chip by 8:30 you was stuck in traffic the rest of the day. I will say I was a little let down with how tame it was. Nothing like Hog Rock, little Sturgis, or Harley Drags!

the Chip was tame? . Traffic- yea, that place can be chaotic entering/leaving etc. Glencoe isn't bad.
