Default engine temp management system

My bike goes into the engine cool down mode at temps as low as 200 degrees.
I got the data from recording using the smart tune mode. It seems odd because HD says the the cool down mode shouldn't kick in until the engine temps reach 300. Anybody have info. on this or experiecnce it?

Are you referring to the EITMS (engine idle temperature management system)

Mine kicked in when the air temp was 80 degrees or more last week at the beach. Don't know what the engine temp was.

On the Rushmore bikes, when the EITMS kicks in depends on the outside air temp, not engine temp. It is set to kick on at 80 degrees or above.

I just picked my new 15 RG up this afternoon. I was told that the EITMS literally shuts down the back cylinder when you are at a complete stop when it gets "hot". They never mention anything about at what engine/outside temperature it would do this at. I was also told as soon as you give it the least bit of gas the rear cylinder would kick in. I asked like when you're in bumper to bumper traffic, and he said only when stopped. He said something about the bike "running rough" when the rear cylinder has stopped. Can anyone trump the dealers statements?

It mostly kicks in above 80 degrees when bike has been running for a while at the signal light but occasionally I've seen it on even below 80 degrees and also fans kick in at ideal riding temp in slow going in city traffic and signal lights.

Not on non liquid bikes. Bike must be at a standstill to activate according to manual.

RTFM!

It comes on when AAT is above 80şF AND the bike has been running more than 4 minutes AND the speed is below 3 MPH AND engine at idle.

It sounds like a wise idea for your dealer and yourself to purchase a maint. Manual so they would know what there talking about.
