I know I have read something about this before, but after searching for a while here and the web, I can't find the answer anywhere.
If paying the toll at the northern end, is there a turnaround on the southern end to avoid paying the toll both ways?
Friends coming up from Tennessee for Delmarva Bike Week and have never done it before and they want to. I have, but have kept going south. Would like to just turn around pre-northern-toll this time. Can I do that, and where?
It's been a few years but I think I've seen people doing it. Here's a screenshot of the southern toll booth from Google maps, the red arrow is where the turn around lane is. There is left turn arrows on the asphalt. Also if it's still like it was back when I went, if you saved your receipt from the northern toll and showed it to the southern toll within 2 days it was only a few bucks to go back north.
If you're out on the peninsula make it a point to check out Chincoteague. Last week of July is the Pony Roundup. But prepare for crowds.
