anyone using the oil relocate from DK Customs? If so how are you liking it? Did it bring your oil temp down at all? All replies are welcome
Thanks in advance

Have been thinking about one... not to bring oil temp down... but for no mess oil changes. I have the hd filter oil catcher thingy...but seems to not work well. Still get a mess. And I have a reuseable oil filter, which I like, so the screw driver trick does not apply for me.

DK relocation would really simplify oil changes.. no mess and you can completely prefil filter with oil without spill. The cons are.. wow the price and also not sure I like the thing hanging off my frame. Now if DK throws 10 or 15% off coupon at some point may pull the trigger on it.

I really love the idea of having my oil filter where it doesn't make a mess every time I take it off, DK Customs seems to have solved this problem, and not a bad looking package. So..... I went to EBay and shopped around. There are a plethora of oil filter relocation kits, components, fittings, and far less costly.. Now, most of these kits are not manufactured with motorcyclists in mind, but if I'm not mistaken, the Harley oil filter has origins in the automobile world. The base kit from DK runs around $250, dress it up with the upsell addons, and you're over $325. Careful research might get you the same or nicer components for far less than half that price. I hate paying for kits full of off the shelf stuff. Especially when I know where the shelf is.

I have the oil filter socket that goes at the end and is driven by a 3/8" ratchet driver for my Sportster. Why would I need a screw driver?

I've used one ground to a point to pierce the lower end of the filter to drain the oil out before trying to turn the wrench. It's easier to collect it from the end, especially on bagger with lowers and lots of stuff in the way.

Okay, I get it.

I just put some absorbent cloth on tin foil and shape it to fit under the filter. I can get it past the mating surface so as not to make much mess. You have to be fast though!

I want to run a relocation kit on my Road Glide Ultra, but don't like the idea of relocating the filter behind the primary. Wish there was another option for bikes with lowers.
