Default Springtime Change????

I changed the oil and filter in my 07 Electra Glide before putting away for the winter. Do I have to change that oil and filter again before I start using the bike for the season? I am using Syn3 oil. If I change to Mobil 1 V-Twin is it OK to replace the Syn3 with the Mobil 1 V-Twin at the next due oil change? Also, will using the Mobil void my warranty if I have engine problems?

You do not need to change out the Syn3 for the Spring season as it has a high enough level of additives to easily make it through storage. Run it to your normal oil change interval. If you switch to Mobil1 Vtwin it will not void your warranty. You do not need to flush out all of the SYn3 to change over to the Mobil1 either. If you do the service yourself keep a log with date/mileage & receipts for oil & filters. I do recommend you stick with the HD oil filter as it has the recommended level of filtration speced for your engine.

IMO, it's better to change out all three fluids prior to putting the bike away for storage than it is to let it sit and then change out in the spring as some do. When doing that, no you do not need to change it out again in the spring, just hop on and ride it. As KB stated, no problems with the switch and I agree on using the HD filter
