Default Amsoil 75-110

I changed my trans oil to the Amsoil severe gear 75-110 to help in the gear clunk I was having with the 20-50 oil.I noticed when I got back from a short cruise that the oil was foamy (bubbly) like.Is this normal running this oil?Yes it has helped a little but has not eliminated the clunk.05 FXDWG with only 6k on it.

Normal as the trans really whips it around. Next change try the 85w140 or even Redline Shockproof Heavy which is a 75w250 (which is what I use). You will never get rid of the klunk just quiet it down some.

250 does have a higher viscosity...thicker. The 110 is the same viscosity at our 20W-50 oil. If you wanted to "thick it" up a little, the 75W-140 would be the next option.

The "clunk" is here to stay when shifting to 1st on a cold engine with a HD. Is does get softer after warmed up and your choice of transmission fluid. I believe you'll be fine with what ever quality tranny fluid you choose, but the clunk will always be waiting for you on a cold engine.

Using ATF in the primary drastically reduces the cold "clunk" because the clutch drag caused by the thick oil most people use in their primary is almost completely eliminated.

I can live with the first gear clunk it was all the other gears allso with the 20-50.Seems to be doing better with the 75-110,I have heard alot of good things about the redline shock proof for the trans.
