You're taking the route/trip I want to take. Never been on Hwy 1 up the coast. Want to really bad. Now that I have a bike it's a must on it. There is a cool map of that section of Hwy 1 that AAA sells. Has places to stay and stop on it, points of interest, etc. It's a colorful and laminated. It's worth the 6 bucks or whatever it is. Show us pictures!

There are two washouts about 20 miles or so south of Monterey. Nice gravel stuff that will slow the traffic a little. Nothing major to deal with on two wheels, just go slow as the gravel is loose.
So far, the weather forecast is good for next weekend, but be prepared for the Onshore Flow. It can hand around till mid-day.
