Few weeks ago I removed my inner primary. Followed Harley manual steps exact.
I reinstalled the primary, the chain, basket, etc. I got everything reinstalled how the manual describes to do it.
I attempted to start her up and engine was turning over, starter sounded great, but would not start. I again went through and double checked everything the manual says to look at when this is the problem. It appears I have a timing issue. No big deal, I went through and set the timing/points like I have in the past. Still not starting.
Question is, could there have been some movement with the front chain off that could have thrown the timing off? Maybe movement on the transmission when the front chain was off? How do I get this back to normal? Should I have had the transmission in gear or neutral when removing the primary?
Thanks again all.
Not saying you don't but why you think timing? Chain r&r should not affect the cam gear that times the circuit breaker. Not assuming the level of knowledge so please don't be insulted as we get to the cause. Have you checked for spark, compression, and fuel?

No insult at all. I appreciate you helping.
I went through the 'locating troubles' section of the manual and all 15 items on the checklist seem to be good other than number 8, 'timing out of adjustment'.
spark is solid, clean well gapped plugs, heavy solid spark.
Compression is good and fuel is present coming through the carb.
Your in the pan section so its not a tin primary its a 65 - many wires involved in the inner and around it - you did say it has spark and your breathing so 2 of the 3 are covered - did you turn the gas on
The brake switch at the front of the primary is in play as the power wire is direct with the coil wire - did you open the points with a test light to make sure the light comes on
