Going to take me few days time to pull and organize what I have for this project. Definitely going to be a "mutt".

Herz the exhaust I am going to use. NOS Superior that I originally bought some 25 + years ago when I bought my 49 EL project as a semi-basket. Wasn't till I took the time and started piecing it together that I realized how much I had for it that was actually correct. Initial intention was to chop/bob it. Figured the exhaust would look good. So now it goes on the 49 FL project.

When I get the cases back from repair, I'll install them along with cylinders and heads so that I can figure out where to add tabs on the frame for the exhaust support brackets.

Some close ups of the '52 frame

Neck

Right and left axle clip

Front and rear motor mounts

Have no idea what the letters "LJ" stand for that are cast in on the right side of the neck near the from lock mechanism. Also a pic of the upper seat post bracket

Bit of road rash down under but not bad considering the age of the frame.

Left side of the battery tray mount needs fixing (been cut almost completely off). Couple of holes in the frame are gonna get filled

Gonna replace seat post bushing. Not worried about horn blocks of tool box mount

Front end stuff...a real mix-n-match bunch of parts

Steel headlight bucket with Wagner 12 volt light (running a 12 volt system). Steel fork slider covers and side panels (going to stay with black painted parts). Not sure which steel cover I'll use (50-54 or 55-59). Upper triple tree cover is stainless steel however.

Adjustable front end

Headlight bucket

49 only tubes with new bushings

49 only brake backing plate

I need to replace the riser bushings. The metal sleeve portion of the bushings appears to be still inside the risers. Best way to get them out without screwing up the riser so that I can press the new parts in?

Sure wish I knew. Looks like someone used the Harley Hammer to beat the crap out it. Guy I got it from said he got it that way and didn't know how it ended up like that. Since it's gonna be a bobber build I figure I'll make sure the welds around those spots are good and fill it so it smooths out some. Kinda goes along with the grinding off on the battery tray amount on the left side.

And just realized I left out a pic of the front wheel rim

I changed the upper triple tree handle bar bushings on my 63' this weekend.
Used a socket and 1/2" drive extension. The socket was just shy of the same diameter of the hole. drove them right out with a 3# small sledge.
The first one I tried driving out the inside and then splitting the outside with a chisel. Wasted a bunch of time and only spent 60 seconds on the second one.
