'49 FL Project
Here, I dug up the photos
The last pic shows the shoulder where the O-ring sits. I forgot to include a shot with the rollers, so you can see that the O-ring doesnt rub if you choose the right thickness.

I didn't find the drive end seal, but I think I saw one a few weeks ago. I'll be working in the shop today so I'll let you know if I find it. But I did find a main bearing seal and it's labeled for 41-E77. Those years had the lose rollers, like your 49. And, Andrews 4 speed main drive gear is also listed fir 41-E77, so I think the seals for those years should work in the 49 as well. Most of the Big Twin 4 speed parts for those years has -36 part numbers so the gaskets and seals covered many years. (some gearing was different, along with reverse on some big twin models)
The oring on the bearing spacer is a good idea. I used a bearing spacer that was machined for an oring from this person (saddlebagrail@yahoo.ca) in Canada who machines them himself. Came recommended by someone on this forum, but can't remember who now. Well made piece.
The super nut has a seal build in, and is the nut that threads on the main drive gear and holds the trans sprocket in place. I guess it like an extra seal, or insurance for if the seal in the gear leaks.
Not sure why the text looks so large and couldn't find a way to change it, but I'm not screaming!

And it's starting to look like a transmission again. Andrews gears in the box
Only part of the top components that is not OEM/NOS is the shift drum

I read several post on other sites from people who say they had great success with that particulat gear set holding up. I imagine it would be fine for a parade type bile that rarely gets didden. Had the main shaft been straight, I would have given it a try. I'm glad I always check parts like that to be sure they are correct. Glad I checked and returned them.
I also had problems with (well known manufacturer) USA made counter shaft bushings being made incorrectly. The thrust flange varied from.0012 to .0021 in thickness, meaning you would never able to get the end play set correctly. FWIW, I got a set from Bender Cycle Parts that were made correctly.

That 65 I rebuilt had mostly good later gears that looked to be Andrews except for 3rd gear and dog clutch looked original and worn. I bought a Taiwan gear and the dog clutch I got was a Sifton.. The Taiwan gear wasn't cut right so I bought the Andrews. Much better..

Don't know if I'll ever do another 4 speed but if I do, they'll be Andrews parts if possible.
