Default Dyna Ignition Zero Revs

My indy just got done swapping out a Mallory ignition to a Dyna 2000 on my 2008 custom. Motor is an 84" stroker. We put the old style distributor in but this thing is a PITA to get running. Before the swap it was a 3/4 kick to get it running cold and maybe 2 when hot.I have searched and see others are resetting the ignition to zero revs. Any additional information on how to make this happen would be great.

You might want to post this over in the Panhead section.. Might get a more responses..

I didn't know that dynatech made a 2000 module for pans. I thought the only thing they made was the Dyna S..

Thanks for the reply. Fairly certain it is the 2000. I know we did have to put a reversing get in the cam chest and on the distributor. I will get it reposted in the Pan sections as well.

Just looked at my paperwork and it is the 2000.

How does one go about moving a post into a different location?

Thanks,

I tried sending a message to the admins.. We'll see. I went to the Dynatek website and they don't have anything except for coils up until 1970. After that, nose cone shovel/evo stuff.

FWIW the 2000Is are typically programmed to 0 revs.. Maybe you have some custom setup that uses a 2000i ?

My understanding the 2000i are all set to 3 revs which make them extremely hard to kickstart. The older ones had a dipswitch to select 0 or 3 revs. I was hoping someone has the knowledge and needed skills to reprogram to 0 revs. Other than that when the bike is running it sounds and preforms great.

The ignition of choice for early machines is the Ed’s E2000 no need for the gear change its a bolt in magnet trigger that replace the points and you can if wanted to go back to the points as you just bolt it in

Thanks for the information John.

Still wondering if this can be reprogrammed since it has already been installed.

If you are running a standard 2000i, it can be reprogrammed. You can download the software from Dynatek called curvemaker HD. You'll need a programming kit and pc computer / laptop..

https://www.lowbrowcustoms.com/produ...ble-ignitions?

https://www.dynaonline.com/downloads/software-firmware/

The 3 evo ignitions I used were all set to 0. The only one that I've programmed is the one in my 113 bobber, I set it to 1 and I used a custom curve. I suspect that you need to program a custom curve and set the cranking revs to whatever you want (0) then go to the Diagnostic page and set the "Used switches" button.
