Default 53 Panhead primary question

I finally obtained a 53 primary cover(suppose to be), had a later model one on the bike and could not install the passenger rear foot peg because of it. Too thick in the front part. The one I just got has a 1 7/8" hole, centered in the front part of the cover. Is this correct for 53? Does anyone make a cover for it? or do I need to weld it up? The hole is not threaded. Photo attached
Thanks

In 1954 Harley came out with a compensating sprocket to fit the big twins. They made a kit to convert Big Twins back to 1938. Holes were put in the cover to grease the compensating sprocket. The hole was closed with plug part number 60650-54. The cover appears to be correct for 1950 to 1954.
