Only happens when riding almost feels like a plug is fouled but when sitting idle ing it rev great running 64 pan hunt mag with std heads with shovel style o ring intake and su carb with 90degree sweep elbow
Eliminator 11 primo jetted as it came recommended for my engine solids adjusted normal spin it lightly not new to adjusting them plugs set at .020 solid core wires did use some wd40 on carb and also fouled front plug 2 times now thought maybe intake and carb might be causing 90elbow is aluminum and drips water from it condensation wondering if it forming on inside also thinkin maybe changing to s&s super e but hate to and have same problem thanks any help or ideas would be great
I love SU's and run them on all of my carbed bikes. Odds are your running lean. Since you have checked for manifold leak I would say you need to adjust the carb. Instructions that came with the carb should tell you how. I will say that I could never get mine to idle as well with the 90 degree manifold as with the straight ones.
direct connect the mag to the plugs - as said i would as well use the correct straight manifold - i do not care for the SU Today -- BUT i had one in 1970 on a sporty and it was just fine - nothing else was available then and a car SU was 5 bucks
to me you need to make one change at a time and it will what is wrong show its head
sometimes trying to dio a bike on line gets all and everyone confused - just go back to the basic stuff - try to fatten it up one step at a time / if the first change is worse go the other way - kind of thing --once you install the rubbers on the straight intake we always put some black elect tape on them it does help -- go back to the basic stuff the tune - compression check < better a leak down test if you have that available to you < it will pin point what it is right away is its mechanical -- jz
