It's an enamel if I'm not mistaken. Should be pretty bulletproof. Designed for farm implements and tractors and takes plenty of abuse in that arena. I've seen both bikes and cars painted with JDBB and it looks great. Extra bonus that it's cheap, easy to apply and readily available. Good luck with your project.
How does John Deer Blitz Black hold up on a gas tank?
I painted my truck with it over a year ago and it's help up really well. I've spilt has on the rear quarter several times and have had no issues at all
I painted my last bike Blitz Black from a rattle can and it held up really well. The only thing is the paint got a little extra shiny where my jeans would rub the tank. It was hardly noticable, though.
I was very happy overall, the paint was way more durable than I expected, laid down easy and looked like a professional job.

Good to know. I have a pearl black SG and was thinking of either repainting it this matte black, or painting some of the chrome pieces.
How resistant is it to chipping would you say, especially that you did a rattle can job? I'm mainly concerned with the front batwing fairing and front fender getting hit with rocks and other debris.
Other than sanding, did you have to do any special prep? Also, did you put any protective top coat over the Blitz Black, or is that you top coat?
