Default Pipes rusted to pieces? Paint em!

My front pipe was literally covered in rust from years of living in the NC mountains, where we salt heavily during winter. It took 60 grit sandpaper to knock it loose. Eventually graduating to 400grit for the final surface prep. I hit it with 500 degree primer, and 1300-2000 degree matte black paint. Right now i've got them back on the bike for a few rides to let them fully evaporate before i hit them with high-temp clear coat protectant. It's a work in progress. I am going to try to polish out some of the scratches and sanding scars on the chrome parts, and if that doesn't work, i'm going to hit them with Dupont DE1604 'gold' paint, because when it dries it looks like brass. So i'll either end up with a chrome tipped, or 'brass' tipped exhaust when it's all done.

To get the exact same pipes from the 2003 year, i was looking at about $300. Which i simply don't have.

Gold color is looks good on your bike but i would like to suggest your for silver color. As per my think, silver color will hide your all scratch very well. Gold color is look different and no match with this bike. What you think for this advise?
