Default Clutch slipping

I was coming back from Denver this week. The clutch was slipping in 5th gear on my sporty. It would redline if I pulled more than a quarter throttle. I installed a barnett extra plate kit about 14000K miles ago. I use type f atf Super tech walmart cheap stuff. I replaced the fluid the and adjusted the clutch under the derby cover and cable. I the clutch does not slip anymore. I just thought that was odd it would slip that bad and that fixed it. I see a lot of crv's and vehicles with lsd's while corning and I change the fluid and all is well. So I guess it's not that amazing. I know some diffs have clutch packs like bikes. It's been about 10,000 miles since I changed the fluid. Is this normal or should I be looking to get a new clutch soon.

having a burned smell isn't good. Keep an eye on the adjustment. Pretty difficult to ruin a wet clutch in normal use, but it can be done. Riding it with a slipping clutch for a thousand miles could do it.
