Has anyone tried replacing the new wazoo hydraulic clutch with the old tried and true cable clutch?? I really miss the friction zone and the feel.
Me too. The fluid clutch suxs. I've read a adjustable clutch lever brings the engagement closer to the bars but still hardly any friction zone. If you figure a way to do it. let me know.
No adjustments needed, love it and won’t go back to cable.
is that the only advantage? as one would still need to flush the fluid (like a brakeline) so not sure you save much work if that's the only advantage? at that, my cable clutch rarely needs adjustment....
M8 slip assist clutchs suck.. The hydraulic part aint too bad except that the clutch wants to engage really far out. The problem is that the clutch wants to grab at lower RPMs. You can rev the motor to 3 grand and it works pretty smoothly but you kind look / sound like a dork if simply try to putt around the parking lot.
I was pretty much convinced that I'd have to replace the clutch with a Barnett Scorpion to get rid of it. I tried stock HD primary oil, syn 3 and even some Rotella 15w40 and none worked. This last oil change I had some straight Valvoline 30Wt left over for a Garden tractor. Instead of simply dumping it out, I figured to try it in the primary. Stuff worked great. The grabiness is all gone..It still catches way far out there but the friction zone is much more predictable. Not sure if you can still get the stuff but I suspect that there are some oils out there that will do the same.
