Annoying snap ring tools scratching bearing surfaces
Wanted to share my experiences trying to remove the big & nasty main primary case bearing. Dont bother using any of those snap ring pliers with inter-changeable tips as theyll probably slip off. My HF Quinn pliers did and scratch the seal surfaces as the inner lip is deep and my lousy pliers holder pins didnt not having enough strength to close despite the handles being together. Anyway Id recommend forged one piece types and got this a great set for $14 on Amazon.

Ill buff out the surface nicks with Scotch brite and 3k papers prior to the new OEM seal placement. Really like the look of these set of 4 pliers. An amazing deal too!

Reason: Images didnt seem to load & one is missing?
For clarity these are straight type pliers as this pic didnt seem to upload originally.
Just to clarify they were brand new straight type pliers as this pic didnt upload originally. Id only used straight types. My new forged one piece types come in a four pack of both straight & curved.

Just gonna mention this.
The tips of the snap ring pliers need to be real close to the size holes in the snap ring itself.
It makes a good bit of difference in how easy the snap ring is installed or removed.
A thin coat of sealer will help on the scratches if worried about them
The ones with the red handles are too small.. I have a set of HF Pittsburg reversable and the larger ones work well if you grind the pins so they are flat and even..
