Default Clutch adjustment

Just bought a new 07 Night Train, and after replacing the levers, I adjusted the cable 'as per specs', and now the clutch engages really quick, right off the grip. Is this normal? My 06 RK Custom has the same amount of play, but engages much later. Any advice will be appreciated, as long as its not abusive. Or at least not too abusive. Thanks.

I found on my bike that spec was a really good starting point but not exactly how I liked it.You can run a little more slack in the cable if you want(not alot but some) or tighten it up a little. If you get it to tight it will let the clutch slip(not good). What I,m getting at is, if you don't like it .adjust it so you do.If your bikes brand new that cables gonna be stretching and the clutch wearing in and changing things until everything is settled in as well.

You will want to run a little bit more slack than they tell you to. It's most likely a little trade-off for the easier pull rate.
