Primary/Transmission/Driveline/ClutchFind answers to general powertrain, primary and transmission. Have clutch issues and need suggestions? Post them here.
Well I did it. Snapped the jackshaft bolt right off at the tip. I was watching changing my inner primary and I checked out fix my hog and it said 108 inch pounds. Didn't double checkthe manual which said 60 to 80 inch. Well snap it went. Realized after the video was changing an inner on a Dyna. I have an 05 EGS. I was told by them the same procedure apply's...I guess not.
So what do I do now? Remove starter? Can the broken tip be taken out?? Any suggestions would certainly help...thx
Can you get in with a drill and e-z out? I broke my compensator bolt off and had to drill it out and insert an e-z out and back it out. Ooops, re-read your post and see what broke off. You're going to want to remove the starter.

Man, that had to suck. HTF did you manage to break it off?

I stupidly thought I could use a hollow handle from a floor jack as leverage on my ratchet and "snug it down" because my foot pound torque didn't go that high! This is when I put in the EVO 30 tooth. After I fubared it, I borrowed a bud's big azz snap on torque wrench and got the job done properly. Boy that was scary until the e-z out worked.

Yup, I'd break into a cold sweat for sure if that happened.

Yeah...that would be a Polish torque wrench.... I quit using those a long time and long trail of snapped off stripped $hit ago...
