In a word, Langlitz. They make hands down the best leathers in the world. They're not cheap, but they last forever and their customer service is second to none.
Well, you took the words right out of my mouth. I've had a Brooks, a Vanson, a Pakistani special, and then I grew a bit. I'm about a 62 Tall now, or a 5x Tall. Hence the Pakistani special. It was all I could find in my size. Cheap, stiff and probably wouldn't hold up to a road rash incident. I knew that I had to get one Custom made. I was going to buy a Vanson again, but the dealer dogged me around. I heard that Langlitz was the best. I got goatskin. Nicest premium leather I've ever seen, much less worn. Very pricey, and worth every penny...Tom
Have used http://www.leatherup.com and http://www.Jaminleather.com and http://www.chilhowee.net/ . Unik Leather is the main distributor to most of your heavy grain online leather companys. They just put their own labels on them. So for the heavy jackets you see online that go from $125 - $225 they are probably Unik leather. I purchased mine at http://www.chilhowee.net/mens_jackets.htmlthen found it cheaper at jamin for the same jacket. Its a heavy leather with thinsulate lining $159. 3 - 3.5 oz Cowhide leather.
The world's best value is also the world's finest leather jacket ~ LANGLITZ ~ ... Small family buisness in Portland Oregon. Name one other jacket that comes with a serial # and 50 years later you have to put it in your will to prevent family upheavel after you die!
Moe Taters
+1 on my 3 favorite brands, Schott NYC, Branded NYC, and Legendary.
I have one of each, and 2 Schotts. I recently picked up the Schott 141, and it is nothing short of awesome in both looks, and quality. All very expensive, though.. but they'll outlive you.
I love my old Brooks! Sad they went out of business. I love my #118 Schott. It has lasted forever, but it's too short in the back. I really like my Legendary USA, but the arms blow up without gauntlets on. I'm saving my $$$ now for the BEST riding jacket ever (& my last). Langlitz! Because I deserve the best. Can't wait to ride with a truely custom fit. Langlitz Leathers all the way!
