Took this ride around Labor day. Took 2 weeks off work and rode across the country to visit family. It was something I've always wanted to do since I started riding street bikes at 18 (27 now). Tried to plan it but gave up on making plans and just set a date to leave NC (4th year in a row I've set a date to do this). Traded the street bike in for a street glide in April and set out to leave Aug 21st only making plans for the first night. Figured I would post the pics here since lots of people from this site gave me some great advice.
Stopped at Country Music Hall Of Fame. Didn't take many pics in Nashville, just went here then met up with some friends who live there and went out to the bars
Day 3: Nashville to Springfield, Mo
Where the Mississippi and Ohio river meet. It was HOT on this day. Hit some rain about 2 hours before I got here. The sun and heat beats the rain any day
Made it to another state.

Didn't get any pictures in the Ozarks, was having too much fun to stop and take pics. Stopped in Hutchinson, KS at the underground salt mine to take a break for a few hours. About 650 feet down an old mine shaft. It was pretty interesting.
Barely missed these storms
I'll post more tomorrow

Thanks for the pics. Threads like this is what gets us through the winter. Nevada 72 has done this a couple of times now. He also throws in nearly a book of details. Look forward to more pics to come. Gives us some details: like # of states, total miles, etc.
Thanks. Ended up being about 3600 miles one way. Tried to stick to back roads as much as I could. Had the bike shipped home from California because I had to get back to work. Only mishaps were breaking down in Kansas and Colorado. The gear shifter bolt that holds it onto the shaft came loose and shifter fell off. Didn't have the right allenset for it but luckily I was able to cost to a church parking lot in KS. Church got out and a guy seen me working on it and had the right tools and even offered me some food. Stopped in the next town and got the right size bit (that I had to use on it again)
Day 4: Dodge City, KS to Colorado Springs, CO
Got up pretty early on this day to try to beat the heat. Temps were around 103 during the afternoon. I went though about 2 bottles of sunscreen and still looked like a lobster.
Seen a lot of these things going down the road on trucks
