Hi.
Myself and 9 others are flying to vegas 28 july, staying at Hooters for 3 nights, then picking up glides for a 7 day roadtrip, basically travelling clockwise round the canyon area.As we're from England UK.and not knowing to much of the area,Do you have any tips.routes etc to help us have a great holiday.after the roadtrip we are back at hooters til 11th Aug. by the way we are 5 blokes with our wives so strip joints are outa the question.
Can't help you much on a seven day road trip... and by canyon, I assume you're talking about the Grand Canyon. But if you're looking for a couple of day-trips in the Vegas area, I'd recommend Valley of Fire, and Red Rock Canyon. Take a picnic, and maybe some hiking shoes, water, and sunblock. It gets toasty in these parts.
As stated, go to the Valley of Fire NE of Las Vegas off I-15 some 55 minutes away.
Very scenic, lots of turns. Take suncreen and water, you will need it.
Okay, from my limited experience in the area...If I had seven days...Run the area aroung the Grand Canyon. But I'd recommend an airplane or helocopter trip...go see the 'London Bridge' in Lake Havasau (it probably was gone when you were young). Head over to the Red Rock area south of Flagstaff...And enjoy the area. It's hot...I mean HOT. Take lots of WATER. And Drink it...I know how you Brits love your Beer (so do I)...WATER. Drink it even if you aren't thirsty....Trust me on this...Did I say...It's HOT?
July and August are way HOT in the desert.Southern Utah is a short distance to the east,Bryce and Zion are just a couple of many great places to ride to.Take rain gear for PM thunder showers, they usually don't last long.Stick to high alt. Ride AM and PM and drink lots of water every day starting before you leave home. It's all well worth it !
