In a few minutes, I leave on a three day, 1,000 mile ride to and from Death Valley. This should be my last big ride of the season although we do in California get to ride most of the winter. My route takes me through the Yosemite high country.
Got in a good ride again today. Headed up into Wisconsin at 1130. Rode north west for 3 1/2 hours, made it to Spring Green, via Hwy 60. From there I headed south back home. I rode lots of twisty empty roads. The fall colors were getting there, but probably won't be there for another week, which is too bad because I can't ride again for two weeks, as I go on call at work starting tomorrow. Call keeps me within 30 minutes of home....so that sucks. I did enjoy today, and yesterday though. I got home at 1830 and it was dark!
Ready to roll.
The ride came off just fine. Three days, 1,000 miles. Two national parks (Yosemite and Death Valley). The weather was perfect. I am quite tired today, but loving it all. I so enjoy spending time on the bike riding through fantastic scenery. And no pictures. I was too busy riding.
I'm on call, so I'm supposed to stay within 30-minutes of town, but that didn't stop me from getting in 213 miles on this beautiful fall day. I mean who wants to stay home and watch football when you could be riding? The bugs were out in force today, probably the worst I've seen them this year. 187 more miles and I'll be at 25,000 for the season.
You sure have the right attitude. I'm rootin for ya. It rained in northern California today. It was the remains of some Pacific Typhoon and it hit Washington and Oregon pretty hard. We had enough rain to keep off the bike. The first rain of the season is difficult for us here. The oil has been just staying on the road for the last six dry months. With the first rain, a lot of the oil on the road floats on the water, and cars start to slide into each other. Not a good time to be out on the bike. Roads are real slippery.
A buddy and I hit the road at 3:30pm today, since it was unseasonably warm. We got in 160 miles by 6:30pm. The sun was gone by 6:08pm, which also meant the warm temp was gone......beer.
