Part of a road trip in April we will be Riding from Lone Pine Ca. across Death Valley to Laughlin Nv. Got to check this place out at night, anyone been?
We rode down a couple years ago from Beatty in the afternoon, it was a little side trip and did not adventure to far.
I was looking on the Web for pictures on the Valley and saw that a night ride is hard to resist.
I just got back from Death Valley. I was there two days ago. I do this ride annually but never at night. Next year I might take a room at Furness Creek just to see the desert night sky. You'll have a great time. Deserts are wonderful.
Nothing better than a Death Valley night ride!!!! Nice warm jacket or gear is most definitely recommended though lol! Beautiful landscape when in a group and all the headlights light up the road and surrounding landscape
If you time it right, you can be there for the wild flower bloom. I was in DV about 2 years ago and it was amazing. I was there when a storm was blowing through. There was a ton of wind, dust, and even some rain. I stayed at Stovepipe Wells and when I woke up the next morning, my bike was literally covered in mud from the rain and blowing dust. Here's a couple of pictures...
Bad Water Basin. It had rained recently, so the playa was wet still. The water table is just a few inches below the surface too, so when it gets wet, it stays wet for a while.
Mesquite Flat Dunes. Yes, that is snow on the mountains in the background.
View from Dante's Point. Pretty nice the next day. I don't remember what time of year it was, but I was in leather most of the day.
