Default Late night rides

It's 1am and i really want to hop on my bike. There's not a lot of cars out at this time..that's a rare thing in los angeles. My only concern is last time i read stats it stated that about 40 percent of drivers on the road at this time have had at least one drink. Damn, i really want to ride right now though. You guys take late night rides often?

I hop on whenever I feel the need - which is all the time

I pretty much learned to ride at night. Took the MSF course, got license, and rode around when traffic was light, mostly at night. One thing I learned pretty quickly though...Cages won't see you even ifyou andthem are the only two vehicles on the road! Even with your headlights. They'll ride your @$$ the same as it was bumber to bumperin daylight. Just take it easy, always have an escape path, and yield to whichever vehicle weighs more than you do...which is all of 'em! A lot of nice relaxing riding is done late night and into the wee hours before the sun comes up.

I find a good time to ride is in the early hours of the morning like 5am, it's usually light enough in summer (here in AU anyway) and most of the cager drunks have passed out somewhere by then.

The wife and I find that we ride quite often at night just to beat the heat. The biggest problem seems to be bugs and we ride without windshields

I agree that riding at night is great. It's peaceful.

I've ridden a few times after dark and the one thing I've noticed is there are a LOT of Suicidal Animals out after dark, you know, the kind thatwait till the last possible second and THEN decide they just have to cross the road... right in front of your front wheel.

Ya gotta watch out for them...
