I get off work at 2 am and ride down the 405 from LAX to Orange Co. every night. I love it! There's no one out there! It's a great way to destress after a hard night at work.
I don't mind riding around at night, especially since I adjusted my headlight so that the beam isn't lighting up only 6 feet in front of me! The lesser amount of traffic is a blessing and the cooler air feels great. But like someone said already, lots of drunks are out at the same time.Small animals are suicidal at night, and depending on where I'm riding, deer can be real unpredictable.Gotta really pay attention whenever you are on 2 wheels, night or day!
I also ride to work at night in a very rual, wildlife filled area, scarryest was the bear !! Anyways the only thing I reallly dont like is the cage drivers hitting the fing brights all the time! Other than that it is nice, cool and mostly free of traffic.
I love late night rides! So peaceful and quiet without all the traffic. Especially on weekday nights. The number of drivers impared by drinking are significantly lower during the week.
Late night rides are absolutely THE BEST in my opinion. I am a software engineer who sits many hours in front of a PC typing code. On big projects, I find myself up until 2 and 3 in the morning. I will usually go riding around 11PM or later for breaks.
The only reason why I do not go more often is because I don't want to **** off any neighbors or wake up my kids. Still, you can't beat riding late night.
I grew up riding bikes in Houston until the AM hours, so maybe that's why I also like riding at night. Like a swollen limb - can't beat it!
Night riding in Phoenix is the BEST riding ever. We don't get animals in the roads, the lighting is great, and it's not an EFFIN OVEN outside after about 7:00 pm. Big wide bandana and some nice riding shades and I'm set. I love it.

Those of us in desert areas can attest to this. I prefer to ride, in the summer at least, after about 10:00 pm. Usually out on the highway towards either L.A. or Phoenix. Going to Hoover Dam isa good ride on a summer night. Not muchtraffic, a twisty road through the mountains, and a spooky place to be in the middle of the night. No people, just a humming sound from the electric generators.
