Default Riding at night?

Saw this post this morning:

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...nice-ride.html

This guy is in Arizona and talked about night riding being the most comfortable because of the high heat there during the day. Here in East Texas, I try very hard to get home before sunset. The deer are terrible, you're almost guaranteed to see some at the side of the road. Damn things are just too unpredictable for comfort. Just curious about the rest of you that live or ride in rural areas. Are you comfortable riding at night or like me, do you try to get home by dark?

Ride Safe

I do ride after dark at times and deer are definitely on my mind. Only thing worse is having to deal with fog as well.

I enjoy riding at night... a nice warm summer night is great, but the deer are a problem, especially at dusk.
So I try not to that much, but I still enjoy it

I live about 30 miles North of Houston, and deer are a big problem hear as well. I ride very little at night for that reason. If I road more at night, maybe I could justify spending 2 or 3 hundred for a better head light.

We get 'em here as well in NC. I would imagine the Phoenix area doesn't get too many deer at night but rather rattlers and gila monsters.

I wear glasses and don't see as well at night. Was Riding home one night on the hiway there was a 2x4 in the middle of my lane. By the time I saw it it was to late to avoid. I had no choice but to run over it. Made it over it ok but decided riding at night was not a good thing for me. Good thing it wasn't something bigger the outcome might have been a lot worse.

I live in the mountains and ride at night -- I just slow down -- however I know many accidents that have happened with critters during day light hours -- so its not a guarantee

I have upgraded my lights to LED and was able to see deer crossing the road a quarter mile away

I live in Wisconsin and deer are a problem here as well. I hit one 5 or 6 years ago and got messed up pretty bad. It took me quite a while to ride at night again but I do it now regularly. I just slow down and take it easy.

I ride at night the same as I drive at night - cautiously... Re-wiring my aux lights to be on with hi-beams too helped a lot.
