Wind therapy.
I met a young man, outside of a Casey's stop and rob, who was riding his bicycle to Texas. He had a cart hooked up to the bike, and was carrying more stuff than I was. He said he'd been on the road for a month and expected to be on the road for 2 1/2 more months. We chatted for a bit, shared stories of our travels, and agreed that this country was not as bad as you'd believe it to be, if you focus on the news and social media more than you focus on getting out in the world. He didn't ask, and may not have needed it, but I gave ten bucks, and told him to treat himself to something good for dinner, lol. He said he'd eat all week on that money. We parted ways, both headed south, on two wheels, getting our own dose of wind therapy.
I stopped and "smelled the roses" quite a bit over the last two days, and I highly recommend it.
Yesterday when I was getting ready to head out on a ride, I wasn't sure where I was going, or if I was actually doing and overnight, but I through a change of underwear, socks, some deodorant, and a toothbrush and toothpaste in a back pack, along with my laptop and phone charger and told the wife I may not be home tonight. She said, have fun. As I headed west from home, the thought crossed my mind to ride the Mississippi north bound, then come back the opposite way, hitting both sides at some point. Turns out I did a figure eight around the Mississippi.
One thing that I had been concerned about since the big wind storm that ripped through the area was whether or not the eagles in the nest at Lock and Dam 13 were still there. I went and checked it out, and just as I had feared, their nest was gone, a victim of the once in a life time, hopefully anyway, storm. Many other trees in the area were toppled as well. These eagles had been there for years, and were stars of their own webcam series. Link.
Tomorrow I'll be returning to work, starting my 23rd year in law enforcement. I'm not sure if I'll complete the 23rd year, or go even longer. All I know right now is tomorrow I'm supposed to go to work, and tonight I'm planning to do so, but hey, tomorrow's a new day, so no promises....lol.
Anyway, if you want to see pics for today...... clicky this linky.
I stopped by "my" dealership, and things looked bad. No bikes, barely any merch. I was told they were trying something new, for winter. What, closing? They finally said that with them being a secondary location for Fox River Harley, they were merging and this location would be open two days a week for storage. Funny, Barbed Wire was not a secondary location to anything, until the Windy City Motorcycle Group bought damn near every dealership in the area.
Fall arrives tomorrow, officially, but summer looks to be hanging around through the weekend, so I'm planning on a Friday Rideday.
Last night I needed a little therapy.
I decided a quick trip along the Rock River, as the sun was setting would be a good fix.
It doesn't have to be a long ride, to be a good ride.

I have to head out for a birthday party for the grand kids, so here's a link to yesterday's pictures.
